Promo items draw visitors for special events

Landmark events and locations create lifelong memories that visitors will remember forever, but giving them a promotional item will not only make them more likely to think fondly of your event or business but will raise interest in others through brand recognition.

The Saratoga Raceway in upstate New York has been giving away promotional gifts like bags, coolers, hats and shirts for years, and the track enjoys record attendance every summer partially thanks to these giveaways. Visitors are even known to go through the turnstile and get an item and then leave and pay to come through again just to get more than one. The buzz about these items is so strong, in fact, that the raceway had to establish a turnstile just for promo item seekers and a policy that a single attendee can only get five of the same item in a single day. As an extension of the New York Racing Association (NYRA), these items raise awareness of both brands and create a market for collectible promotional items that give high visibility to the Saratoga logo.

These items encourage others to come to the track and because they’re so practical those who acquire them use them on a regular basis, increasing brand visibility. The prominence of the Saratoga and NYRA on bags, umbrellas and other giveaways make it impossible for viewers to miss or mistake them in passing.

Taking promos to the ballgame

As an American pastime, Major League Baseball’s St. Louis Cardinals are also seeing turnstyle revenue thanks to special promotional giveaway days. Game day giveaways include promotional bags, shirts, hats and other paraphernalia with team and corporate logos, offering joint advertising through association as well for both brands and the ballpark. There will also be fireworks, live music and other events to help increase attendance and make a special day more memorable.

Special events build memories and customer loyalty by offering promotional items that will make sure consumers think of the experience all year long. Giving them a reason to visit more frequently will mean more traffic when they tell a friend or someone sees your promo item and wants to get one for themselves, too.
