Pulling in business with promos and incentives

New and established businesses know the value of marketing and sometimes giving products away at a discount can help increase brand image quickly. Even for the biggest companies, making sure they stay on top can mean finding new and creative promotional giveaway opportunities.

Party in style

Virgin America’s mobile phones and plans are fairly well-known but trying to expand into the airline industry has meant the company has had to aggressively advertise in every new market, according to Media Post News. Its most recent move into the Portland area lead to a recent promotional sticker distribution throughout Oregon as part of the Put A Bird On It challenge. Garnering Virgin higher social media recognition, the contest consisted of users uploading images of commonplace items and adding bird stickers to make them more interesting or humorous. The winners were treated to a free party in a Virgin aircraft hanger, and the company was treated to plenty of brand recognition with minimal cost or effort.

Drinking it up

Coca Cola’s most recent endeavor in the Marianas Islands gave consumers the chance to win promotional giveaways and other prizes just by proving they had purchased beverages reported the Marianas Variety.

Participants traded 25 Coke labels for a chance to spin a prize wheel and earn anything from promotional bags and bumper stickers to gas cards, gift certificates and even an XBox 360. Those with fewer labels could trade them in for instant scratch tickets promising promo item gifts. By holding the event on multiple weekends, Coca Cola is also able to get the word out through local and social media as well as word-of-mouth and allowing winners to show off what they won.

Brown bagging it

Office supplier OfficeMax has also come up with a foolproof way of bringing in business while giving away free promotional bags at a low cost.

The company inserts flattened brown paper bags bearing the company logo and sale information into local newspapers and fliers, distributing them for next to nothing. Then, as STL Today reported, consumers can bring the bags to a local store and receive a 20 percent discount on any merchandise they can fit inside. By combining a free promotional item with the incentive of added savings on essentials, OfficeMax increases marketing effortlessly while boosting revenue.
